THE BAND
In
2009, Charles (guitar, ukulele & vocals) and Sammy Upton (vocals
& guitar) who had been performing with Steve Sutton (fiddle,
mandolin & vocals) as a trio, were joined by Mike 'Bill' Bailey
(fiddle & clarinet) and Vaughan Danning (bass guitar, occasional
12-string guitar & vocals) to form the original quintet, Fippenny Piece.
Sadly for family reasons Vaughan & Bill have had to leave us, but
we are pleased to announce the addition of Mary Emerson voice &
fiddle and Nick Pope voice & bass : making up CASMAN
This quartet based locally in Child Okeford will keep you entertained
with their own musical arrangements using a mix of instruments in a
variety of different styles, from up-beat traditional folk songs to
smooth jazz-blues classics, with the odd bit of a capella as well as
more contemporary material and even the occasional number from the
Beatles for good measure!
Variety is the spice of life, so get ready for a whole range of musical
flavours from Fippenny Piece.
THE MUSIC
Although
most of our repertoire is firmly based in what could be called the folk
tradition, our arrangements aren't necessarily traditional folk style.
We've always tried to put variety at the top of the list, so you can
expect the occasional jazz standard or more popular item to find its
way into a stage performance. In fact several distinctly non-folk songs
are included in our recent CD 'Frolicsome & Easy' (copies still
available for a reasonable fee! - see below for details).
To
